The mentoring relationship:

I have just read the text " The mentoring relationship". Very good piece of reading , by the way. Interestingly I had mentioned some of those points in my previous posts, including the assignment. I do agree when the text claims that: The mentor is not the only" resource " for the mentees. we are not mirrors and usually have loads of work to do apart form mentoring. I usually say to the mentees: Your best resources are your colleagues. Don't be afraid to share, to ask anything , to do some peer observation. It will help you grow.
Another good thing that called my attention was the suggestion to set a closer relationship with the mentees. Why not inviting them for a cup of coffee, to have lunch or some tea together? It's a way to break the ice and allow them to get to know you are more than a mentor, a DOS, a boss. a teacher, but a real person with wants, needs ,strengths , weaknesses and a personal life to be lived.

Last but not least, thank God, mentees become independent at a certain point. It makes me come back to my initial thoughts posted on this course platforms: Mentoring in not only a matter of developing careers or improve teaching/ learning. It is also an opportunity to form leaders, independent teachers and learners.
